I lived in Ft. Myers for four years. It’s where we moved to when my family came to the US. Even after I moved to Boca Raton, I continued to go to Ft. Myers to visit my mom. My family and I would visit every few months for 27 years until my mom moved back to Germany. Memories were made. Lots of them. Dinners at the Pierside Grill and sunset watching at Ft. Myers Beach. It became a tradition. One we all looked forward to…
None of us could have predicted Hurricane Ian's damage on September 28, 2022. When Ally and I made a pit stop in Ft. Myers after a trip to Tampa in April 2023, almost seven months after Hurricane Ian struck, we were in disbelief, seeing the destruction and the slow progress of the clean-up. I remember walking around with tears in my eyes while tourists and beachgoers baked in the sun. Life goes on…
It will take years for the damage to be repaired, if at all. Many of the mom-and-pop stores and restaurants will be unable to rebuild, and the big-name resorts will take over.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!
Oh, gosh. Breathtaking - and heartbreaking - shots, Susi. Stunning work.
This must have been heartbreaking for you to see. Thanks for sharing the vivid before and after photos. The before photos really capture their fun spirits.
